The VERTEX GP Racer Choice forged piston is designed for the Yamaha WR 450 F (RE 45) from the 2019-2020 model year range. The forged racing version made of aluminum combines an optimized piston crown design with constructive details for use in the 4T engine.

Function and construction

The shape and design of the piston crown are designed to improve the fire front and enable a higher compression ratio. A special treatment limits friction. Reinforcements make the piston structure more stable and thereby reduce the deformation of the piston crown.

The short, chamfered piston pin has a DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) treatment. The external nose locking clip prevents twisting at high engine speeds. The very thin “GNH” ring is made of high-strength steel.
