MALOSSI gear set with coordinated tooth numbers for the Vespa PX E GS 200

The MALOSSI gear set combines the tooth numbers Z 55, Z 40, Z 37 and Z 36 to adapt the gear ratios in the four gears. The number of teeth was designed to achieve an optimized gear ratio. This makes the gear set suitable for applications in which the gear ratio needs to be changed in a targeted manner.

Execution and manufacturing

• Wheels made of specially hardened steel
• Manufactured on CNC hobbing machines
• Ground contact surfaces for the contact areas between the gears
• Small depressions in the contact surfaces support oil transport and lubrication on the sliding surfaces
• Relief holes, as far as structurally possible

There were no relief holes in the area of the contact surface between the wheel and the gear selector lever so as not to cause any breakage. The design therefore takes into account the different mechanical loads within the transmission.

Vehicle assignment

The gear set is assigned to the Vespa PX E GS 200 in the full year range from 1987 to 1998.
