MALOSSI crankshaft for the Vespa PK XL 125

This MALOSSI crankshaft is designed for the Vespa PK XL 125 from the 1983-1991 model year range. It has a ø 15 pin, a 97 connecting rod, a 51 mm stroke, a rotating valve inlet and a ø 20 cone.

Structure and function

The crankshaft controls the movement of the connecting rod and piston and, in this engine concept, also controls the intake via the crankshaft control. In the version for engines with a rotating valve inlet, the intake phase is incorporated into the half-crank within the circular mass structure. This creates the inwardly inclined shape that is characteristic of this version.

The shape of the “Viper Head” connecting rod combines reduced weight with the required rigidity. A revised thread gradation on the gear side as well as the adjusted position and shape of the wedge support the durability of the construction. To use the narrower thread, special, particularly resistant nuts are used.
