The forged VERTEX GP Racer Choice forged piston is designed for the Husqvarna FS 450 in the 2015-2023 model year range. Its design combines an aluminum construction with targeted reinforcements and piston compression geared towards racing.

Function and construction

The shape of the piston crown has been optimized to improve the flame front and achieve the maximum allowable compression ratio. Reinforcements stiffen the piston structure and reduce piston crown deformation under full load. A surface treatment serves to reduce friction.

The short piston pin has a chamfer with a DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coating. The locking ring has a nose on the outside that prevents twisting at high speeds. The extra-thin GNH piston ring made of gas nitrided steel increases wear resistance.
