VERTEX GP Racer Choice forged pistons for Husqvarna FC 450

The VERTEX GP Racer Choice forged piston was developed for use in the demanding MX competition environment. Vertex used the experience gained from working with teams in the MX World Championship and placed particular emphasis on constructive details during development.

Function and construction

The shape of the piston crown is designed to provide a favorable flame front and achieve the maximum permissible compression ratio. Reinforcements stiffen the piston structure and reduce piston crown deformation under full load. The surface treatment serves to reduce friction.

The extra-thin GNH piston ring made of gas nitrided steel supports increased wear resistance. A locking ring with a nose on the outside prevents twisting at high speeds.
