The VERTEX GP Racer Choice forged piston is designed for the GasGas MC 250 F Factory Edition in the 2023-2025 model year range. As a forged aluminum version, it combines piston compression designed for racing use with design details for the performance-oriented 4T engine.

Construction and function

The shape of the piston crown was tailored to the flame front and the maximum permissible compression ratio. Reinforcements stiffen the piston structure and reduce piston crown deformation under full load. A surface treatment serves to reduce friction.

The structure includes a short piston pin and a chamfer with DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coating. The locking ring has a nose on the outside that prevents twisting at high speeds. The extra-thin GNH piston ring made of gas nitrided steel is designed for increased wear resistance.
