AXP Xtrem underrun protection for Yamaha YZ 450 FX

The AXP Xtrem underrun protection protects the frame of the Yamaha YZ 450 FX beyond the area below the footrests. Its design distinguishes it from the MX/SX series and also fully includes the water pump in the protection area. This creates a continuous cover for central, exposed components in the lower vehicle area.

Protection and construction

• Made of PE-HD with a thickness of 8mm
• Complete frame protection down to below the footrests
• Complete enclosure of the water pump
• Additional material thickness of 16 mm in total below the frame pole
• Total weight: 1,550Kg

Polyethylene is 40% lighter than aluminum. The material does not deform, does not produce vibrations and ages better over time. The underrun protection thus combines the proven scope of protection with a material-appropriate design for use on the Yamaha YZ 450 FX.

Practical maintenance function

The design allows changing the oil filter and draining the oil without removing the plate. Maintenance work on the engine oil circuit can therefore be carried out without first dismantling the underrun protection.
