VERTEX GP Racer Choice forged pistons for the KTM 250 EXC-F Factory Edition

The forged VERTEX GP Racer Choice forged piston is designed for use in the 2015 KTM 250 EXC-F Factory Edition. Its design combines an aluminum piston with racing compression and construction details for use in performance-oriented engines.

Function and construction

The shape of the piston crown was designed to provide a favorable flame front and achieve the maximum permissible compression ratio. A treated surface serves to reduce friction. Reinforcements stiffen the piston structure and reduce piston crown deformation under full load.

The short piston pin has a DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coating. The locking ring with a nose on the outside counteracts twisting at high speeds. An extra-thin GNH piston ring made of gas nitrided steel supports wear resistance.
